FAQ

How long is a game drive?

Game drives typically last between 3 to 4 hours for morning or evening excursions. For those seeking a more immersive experience, full-day game drives can extend up to 6 to 8 hours, offering ample opportunities to explore the diverse landscapes of Zimbabwe's national parks, such as Hwange, Mana Pools, and Zambezi.

Will the big 5 be there?

While sightings of all Big Five animals—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros—are rare in a single outing, our safaris in Zimbabwe's renowned parks increase your chances. Hwange National Park, for instance, is home to large populations of elephants and buffalo, as well as predators like lions and leopards. However, rhinoceros sightings are less common due to their limited numbers in the region.

Which birds will we see?

Zimbabwe's national parks are a haven for bird enthusiasts. Mana Pools National Park alone boasts nearly 400 bird species, including the African skimmer, Pel’s fishing owl, and carmine bee-eater. Hwange and Zambezi National Parks also offer rich birdlife, making every safari a delightful experience for birdwatchers

How many elephants are there?

Hwange National Park is renowned for its substantial elephant population, estimated at around 50,000 individuals. It's not uncommon to witness large herds congregating around waterholes, especially during the dry season, providing unforgettable wildlife viewing opportunities.

How close can we get to the animals?

Safety is our top priority. While on safari, guests can expect to observe wildlife from a respectful distance, typically around 100 meters, especially during walking safaris accompanied by an armed guide. This ensures both your safety and the well-being of the animals.

How dangerous are the animals?

Wild animals are inherently unpredictable and can be dangerous if provoked or approached too closely. Our experienced guides are trained to interpret animal behavior and maintain safe distances, ensuring a secure and enjoyable safari experience for all guests.

What is the best time to go on safari in Zimbabwe?

Zimbabwe’s dry season, from May to October, is the best time for wildlife viewing. During these months, animals gather around water sources, making them easier to spot on game drives and walking safaris. The weather is also cooler and less humid—perfect for outdoor adventures in Hwange, Mana Pools, and along the Zambezi River.

What should I pack for an African safari?

Light, neutral-coloured clothing is ideal, along with comfortable walking shoes, a wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and binoculars. Don’t forget your camera! Early mornings and evenings can get chilly, especially in Hwange, so pack a warm layer too.

Is Mana Pools worth visiting?

Absolutely! Mana Pools National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its walking safaris, dramatic landscapes, and abundant wildlife. It’s one of the few parks in Africa where you can explore on foot alongside elephants, wild dogs, and even lions—with a professional guide, of course.

What makes a safari in Zimbabwe unique?

Zimbabwe offers a more intimate and less crowded safari experience compared to other African countries. With its wide-open landscapes, world-class parks like Hwange and Mana Pools, expert local guides, and rich cultural history, a Zimbabwe safari is immersive, authentic, and unforgettable.
